Payroll Specialist (Temp-to-Hire)

Location: Austin, TX (Onsite to start, Hybrid after training)

We are partnering with a mission-driven, nonprofit organization in Austin to identify an experienced Payroll Specialist for a temp-to-hire opportunity. This role supports a complex healthcare environment and requires a high level of accuracy, discretion, and technical expertise.

This team is ready to interview ASAP and is highly selective-qualifications are critical.


Position Overview

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for approximately 255 employees
  • Handle payroll in a complex healthcare setting
  • Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and internal controls
  • Collaborate closely with finance and HR leadership

Team Structure

  • Reports directly to the CFO / Controller
  • Works alongside:
    • AP Manager
    • AR Manager
    • Medical Billing Specialist

? Must-Have Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)

  • PACOM experience within the last 3 years
  • Strong, hands-on payroll processing experience
  • Healthcare payroll background (complex environments required)
  • Experience processing:
    • Commissions
    • Mileage & reimbursements
    • Premium pay
  • Strong HRIS system experience

Candidates without PACOM and healthcare payroll experience will not be considered.

?? Compensation & Benefits (Upon Permanent Hire)

  • $60,000-$70,000 annual salary
  • 20 days PTO
